I love sharing success stories about the impact of The Read & React Offense! Here’s what Coach Fred Bryant – Newberry Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach had to share. This is a great example of what happens when the Read & React is implemented system-wide, then coupled with teaching, commitment and perseverance from the coaching staff.

Great job and thanks from all of us in the Tribe!! – Rick Torbett

Rick,

I just wanted to give you a quick success story that involves your Read & React System. Our girls basketball program implemented the Read & React System 5 years ago from the 7th grade team all the way up to the varsity level.

After just one season of running the Read & React, our varsity girls team won 7 games which was the most our varsity girls had won in a single season in over 10 years. Fast forward to the 2015 and the 2016 seasons. In 2015, our varsity girls went 13 wins and 8 losses and won the E.U.P. Conference championship going 11-1 in the conference and losing in the first round of the state tournament to state power St. Ignace by 4 points. St. Ignace went on to win the Class D state championship and we took them right down to the wire in 2015.

In the 2016 season we finished the regular season going 19 wins and 1 loss and winning both the E.U.P. and Straits Area Conference Championships. The girls also defeated St. Ignace’s girls team for the first time in almost 20 years. It was also the team’s first ever Straits Area Championship. We finished the season as the No. 1 ranked Class D team in the Upper Peninsula and the No. 2 ranked Class D team in the state. The girls also went on to win their first district title in over 25 years and added a regional championship as well. They finally bowed out in the state quarterfinals and finished the season with 23 wins and 2 losses. The Read & React System has been a huge contributor to the success of our program.

Thank you,

Fred Bryant
